To begin our excursion to the Church of Peace (UNESCO) from Wroclaw, we will leave Wroclaw early in the morning and drive about 30 kilometers southwest to Sobótka. This small Polish village lies at the foot of the slopes of Mount Ślęża, the main attraction of our first stop. We will tour the surroundings contemplating how the mountain rises in a practically flat terrain such as Lower Silesia.
Our guide will tell us some of the most important stories of the pagan populations that lived in this area, a key place during the Bronze Age. In addition, we will visit the Sobótka Market Square and the ancient stone sculptures, whose meaning remains a mystery even to archaeologists.
We will continue our tour of Wroclaw at the archaeological site of Bedkowice, the first settlement of the Slavs. After learning part of the most important history for the development of the country with the visit to this settlement, we will visit Krzyżowa, a small town but with a huge importance for the Polish population. In November 1989 it hosted the reconciliation mass between the German and Polish people, a difficult reconciliation after the Second World War. You will learn how this historic moment took place, attended by the heads of government of both countries.
Finally, we will go to Świdnica, a picturesque town in Lower Silesia with numerous architectural gems. One of them is the Church of Peace, considered the largest wooden church in Central Europe.
