Warsaw (in Polish: Warszawa) is the capital and largest city of Poland since 1596. It is also the seat of the President of the Republic, the Parliament and the rest of the central authorities. It has a population of 1,745,000 inhabitants2 (in 2014), which makes it the seventh most populous city in the European Union, with some 3,101,000 inhabitants in its metropolitan area.
Görlitz is the easternmost city in Germany. The city is located in Upper Lusatia and is the sixth largest city in the state of Saxony. When the borders were redefined after the Second World War, the eastern side of the city, much smaller in size, became part of Poland, receiving the name of Zgorzelec.
Frankfurt is the most populous city in the German state of Hesse. With 763,380 inhabitants it is the fifth most populous city in Germany. Frankfurt’s central business district is located about 90 km (56 miles) northwest of the geographic center of the EU in Gadheim, Lower Franconia.
Munich is the capital of the federal state of Bavaria and the third largest city in Germany by number of inhabitants, and the 11th in the European Union. It is also the German city where the most companies are in the DAX stock index, the region being an important economic engine of the financial, technological, automotive, and service industries.
