In past centuries, Gdańsk has always been an important trading port. Today, lapped by the Motława River and picturesque canals, it amazes visitors with its charming medieval architecture, its wharf with spectacular panoramic views, and its elegant amber shops.
Our tour begins at the Long Market Square (Długi Targ) at the Neptune fountain, a true icon of the city. It is there that we will learn about the history of Gdańsk under the control of the Teutonic order and the glorious past as the “sale to the world of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth”.
We will then visit other iconic sites such as the Gothic Town Hall, Arthur’s court and the impressive Basilica of the Virgin Mary, the largest brick church in the world!
We will continue to the old municipal gates, seeing the house of the executioner and the relics of the medieval walls.
We will visit the famous amber museum, the most important export product in the area. Our tour concludes in front of the harbor crane, an amazing example of medieval engineering that will blow your mind!
