Görlitz is the easternmost city in Germany. The city is located in Upper Lusatia and is the sixth largest city in the state of Saxony. When the borders were redefined after the Second World War, the eastern side of the city, much smaller in size, became part of Poland, receiving the name of Zgorzelec.
