Lower Silesia Tour: Książ Castle & Świdnica Church of Peace

Overview
Discover some of the most fascinating attractions in Lower Silesia on a full-day tour from Wrocław combining castles, mysterious underground tunnels and UNESCO heritage sites. This experience is perfect for travelers looking for the best day trips from Wrocław and wanting to explore the rich history and hidden treasures of southwest Poland.
The tour begins with a visit to the magnificent Książ Castle, the third-largest castle in Poland and one of the most spectacular landmarks in Lower Silesia. Surrounded by forests and overlooking the picturesque Pełcznica River valley, the castle is often called the “Pearl of Lower Silesia.” During the visit you will explore elegant halls, terraces and historic interiors while learning about the fascinating history of the powerful Hochberg family and the castle’s most famous resident, Princess Daisy.
Książ Castle is also known for its mysterious World War II past and the underground Nazi tunnels hidden beneath the complex. Built during the secret Project Riese, these underground corridors remain one of the greatest mysteries of Nazi Germany in Lower Silesia. During the tour you will discover the underground tunnels and learn about wartime secrets, forced labor and the unfinished underground structures connected to the Third Reich.
You will also visit the historic Palm House greenhouse near Książ Castle, filled with exotic plants and tropical vegetation. Originally built for Princess Daisy, the Palm House remains one of the most unique attractions near Wrocław.
After the guided visit, you will have free time at Książ Castle to relax, take photos or enjoy lunch with beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.
The journey continues to Świdnica, home to the extraordinary Church of Peace, one of Poland’s most remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Built in the 17th century using only wood, clay and straw, it is considered the largest timber-framed religious building in Europe and an outstanding masterpiece of Baroque architecture.
