Jewels of Saxony – Dresden and Meissen Porcelain Factory

On this excursion to Dresden and Meissen from Berlin, you will discover the essence of the former Kingdom of Saxony, exploring the most emblematic landmarks of these two historic German cities.

Itinerary

We will meet at the designated time in front of The Panorama “The Wall”, close to the famous Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin, to set off for Dresden – today the capital of Saxony and one of the most beautiful Baroque cities in Europe.

Upon arrival, we will enjoy a guided tour through the historic center, during which we will discover some of Dresden’s most iconic monuments, such as the Semper Opera House, the Zwinger Palace, the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, and the impressive mosaic of the Procession of Princes (Fürstenzug). We will end our walk at the magnificent Frauenkirche, one of the city’s symbols.

After the guided visit, you will have free time to enjoy lunch in a traditional Saxon restaurant, savor the regional cuisine, or continue exploring Dresden at your own pace.

In the afternoon, we will continue to Meissen, the birthplace of the famous German porcelain. Our visit will begin at the Meissen Porcelain Factory, where admission to the showroom and a presentation on the fascinating manufacturing process are included. Here we will see how the craftsmen create the masterpieces that have made this city world-famous.

Next, we will stroll through the historic center of Meissen, with its medieval alleys and the hilltop where the Albrechtsburg Castle and the Meissen Cathedral stand, offering spectacular views over the Elbe Valley.

After some free time in Meissen, we will start our return journey to Berlin, with a short technical stop in Dresden before continuing. The excursion will conclude back at our initial meeting point, in front of The Panorama “The Wall”.
