Gdańsk

Gdansk (in Polish, Gdańsk, in German: Danzig) is the sixth largest city in Poland and the largest port city in this country. Between 1975 and 1998 it was the capital of the defunct Gdansk Voivodeship and, since 1998, it is the capital of the Pomeranian Voivodeship. In this city is the famous shipyard where the Solidarity union was founded.
